Economic Development Imports was created in 2003 to offer customers unique,
high-quality, handmade products, while providing income-generating opportunities to women in developing countries.
Since its founding, EDImports has built relationships throughout East and West Africa by
working with thousands of artisans,
most of whom are women, to help them build better lives for themselves and their children.
From the start, EDImports partnered with fair trade industry
veteran One World Projects for all warehousing and
distribution functions.
Both companies are members of the Fair Trade Federation and together they worked with artisans
from more than 25 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
In 2008, EDImports transitioned out of importing,
and One World Projects took
over management of the
artisans and products.
Purchases can still be made from this web site by clicking on any of the "buy now" buttons which are
directly linked to One World Projects.
The founder of EDImports, Liz Wald,
is now using her analytical, operational, entrepreneurial and emerging market skills to help grow other
socially-minded companies. Learn more at www.edimpacts.com.
