Knit Goods
Painstakingly woven from ultra thin strands of sisal fiber, these baskets provide critical income to Rwandan women and their families. Woven from techniques that have been practiced for centuries, the unique form of these baskets has served many traditional functions such as holding food, celebrating weddings, and carrying secrets from one woman to another.
Standing 10"-12" high, each basket could take up to a week to make. They look great and are perfect for anything from holding your spare keys to cotton balls to candy!
The mini-Rwandan baskets to the right we call "Peace Fortunes" because they come with a special message of peace inside. They are about 4" high and make for very creative gift boxes and wonderful Christmas ornaments.
